An inspiring Women's Conference in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was held last June 6, 2009 in Park Slope Chapel under the Brooklyn, New York Stake. It was a privilege and great opportunity to have been given an assignment to give a workshop about Visiting Teaching. As i was informed at least a month earlier, i excitedly and diligently prepare, gathering some ideas that i know, through the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, would be helpful for those Visiting Teachers who would want to be instructed once again about their duties.
One particular experience that i would like to record in my Visiting Teaching Journal was a confirmation of how the Lord will direct his church and the leaders and teachers of his church according to His own will and pleasure. An honest Visiting Teacher wondered why she's always assigned to a less-active companion making it difficult for her to perform her duties. A strong answer and confirmation came to me as if God was talking and saying that "there is a specific reason and purpose for it", it wasn't a mistake by the Relief Society President but it was instead an inspired assignment. As one of the ways we can improve our Visiting Teaching is by counseling with our companion, to love and teach each other first before we can effectively reach out to others esp. those who are assigned under our stewardship.
I went home with heart filled with hope for things that i know i should be improving. A renewed testimony that God is the head of this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and that whom He calls He qualifies.
