I want to say that there is a big reason why "Unity" is placed between people, groups, organizations and has a significant role in carrying out the purpose and mission of the church which is to 1) to proclaim the gospel, 2) redeem the dead, 3) and perfect the saints.
Unity between husband and wife, in families, between friends, church organizations, even at work is very important. It strengthens us, strengthens the cause of all the things that we do pertaining to our mission and goals. It should start within us; love your Visiting Teaching companion, work with them in peace and harmony, strengthen each other with the gospel of Christ, be understanding and supportive, work closely together, talk about your plans and goals regarding Visiting Teaching. Talk about how you are going to perform your responsibilities, delegate duties and assignments(i.e. who is preparing the lesson, who is making the appointments, talk about ideas that may help strengthen the sisters assigned to your companionship). Let the learning process continue and progress--compliment each other for a good work done.
Remember that we are children of our Heavenly Father. Pray and ask God what it means to be called "a child of God". We were given a gift of Agency that we may be happy--we are "freemen"(Alma 50-51);we love freedom, liberty, we love our religion, our family, our organization---the sisterhood in the Relief Society Organization. Pray for wisdom and love "ALWAYS" in magnifying your calling, even as Visiting Teachers.
I would like to personally invite and encourage everyone to read, ponder and pray about the Book of Mormon. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the restored gospel and that the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the said gospel. We are not perfect--but we can always do our best. Reading the Book of Mormon regularly will help us understand the things that we need to know and apply in performing our task. It will guide us as we continue to learn and progress while taking advantage of our mortal probation. Let us strengthen ourselves and strengthen our families.
